Biodiesel Production from Waste Cooking Oil: Characterization, Modeling and Optimization

In this study, waste and discarded cooking oils (WCO) of palm, sunflower, rice bran groundnut are collected from local restaurants. The high viscous WCO was converted into oil biodiesel (WCOBD) by a single-stage transesterification process. During the process, important parameters which show significant change in yield studied using optimization tool response surface methodology (RSM). Results reported that 91.30% achieved within L18 experiments NaOH catalyst identified as most influential parameter on WCOBD yield. Artificial Intelligence (AI) based modeling also carried out to predict From AI modeling, predicted 92.88% achieved, is 1.70% higher than RSM method. These results reveal prediction capabilities accuracy chosen methods. addition, fuel properties measured observed scope ASTM standards (ASTMD6751) fatty acid profiles chromatography presence unsaturated acids WCOBD. Therefore, utilizing for production can mitigate global challenges environmental energy paucity.
